How I lost fifty pounds eating more! (and, got healthier…)

I lost fifty pounds. I never knew it’s the food. Yet, no matter where I turned, there was conflicting, false and misleading information about health and weight loss.

I didn’t want to try out another expensive unnecessary and potentially health destroying fad diet plan! ‘Fad diets are not the best way to lose weight and keep it off ‘[1]. I knew I had to lose fifty pounds to get back at my old high school weight.

And, I also knew in my gut I would eventually suffer from cancer, diabetes, stroke or heart attack if I didn’t start doing something about my weight problem. I discovered how simple the principles of weight loss and better health were. I was pleasantly surprised…

Actually, it was more like I felt relieved. I felt I was on to something big. There are those out there who are just trying to make a buck off you selling you something you don’t need trying to persuade you losing weight and getting healthier is complicated. It’s a lie, because it is simple.

You don't need to drink smoothies, green juice, use their powders, buy their food and have it delivered to your door or starve yourself on some sort of a detox diet drinking some stupid drink.

I finally figured out how to lose weight through trial and error. It wasn’t the easiest thing to do, as I had ups and downs all along. And, it did take some willpower because you will be tempted to fall back to the old way of eating due to TV commercials and those around you who are still eating poor food choices.

First, I had to clear all the junk food out of my refrigerator and cupboards. Old habits die hard! I am still tempted by all those foods that made me feel sick and caused all the weight gain.

But, the secret is, I don’t eat that way, anymore. So, don’t ever shop when hungry, because you might buy the wrong foods. Also, don’t keep bad snacks in your house. If you do, you will eat them like I would.

It takes a little discipline and you do fool yourself into eating the wrong stuff once in a while. So, you have to stay conscious and not get too hungry so you go out and buy that bag of chips or drive up to the hamburger window!

There was an added benefit to losing all that weight. In the beginning, I wanted to lose weight to keep my pants from falling down to my knees. I was tired of that dreaded ‘plumber’s crack’ showing and my belly hanging over my belt.

I didn’t want those ‘love handles’, either. But, I noticed that when I changed what I ate; I lost weight, my energy level skyrocketed and I was feeling much better.

So, what was it I ate? It took a while making the transition to a new way of eating, and I still have to keep my mind focused on my diet. But, it eventually turned into a lifestyle through healthier eating habits.

I eat food packed with nutrients, unlike refined and processed food. I don’t use any oil to cook with or add it to my foods. I eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables. I also eat a few selected grains and potatoes with a small amount of seeds and nuts.

I also take B12 about once a week, exercise moderately, get out into the sun for my vitamin D and drink a combination of bottled and filtered water from my refrigerator door.

My diet is a combination of raw and cooked plant based whole food. I lost fifty pounds (nearly 4 pounds a month) and found out amazingly, it’s the food! Find out more, here.
