What I Am Doing About The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

This is very scary, since me and my wife are much older. We are both 68. Life and health becomes a lot more precious when you get old, believe me. When younger there was the Swine Flu. I don’t know that they made such a big a deal out of it as they are doing now. But, lots of people died back then, too. Yet, since there’s a state of national emergency declared, it is surely something to pay attention to.

But, one needs to go out and do things like go to the store and shop for food. What does one do about that? You never know who has been exposed to the virus wherever you go. So, what I am going to do is to try to limit my exposure wherever I go. Store visits will be cut down. We may have our food delivered, I am not sure yet.

‘I am not going to the gas station, pick up sandwiches, getting coffee from a drive through window, going to other specialty food stores and anyplace else for a while. Hopefully, for all of us, this thing will blow over relatively soon. A prayer or two surely wouldn’t hurt…’ ~ your author

We don’t go out much anyway, being we are more ‘home body’ types than normal. In other words, we don’t go to Hockey games or other large gatherings not much, if ever.

I don’t know about you, but I am taking all this very seriously. One problem with me when I was young was I wasn’t serious enough about anything, not really.  I see now that my life would’ve gone a lot better if I would have taken life a lot more seriously than I did. It was easy come, easy go. And, because of that immature attitude I lost out a lot! Some never grow up. I eventually did, thank God…

‘Clean your hands often

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands [2 cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/symptoms.html]’.

If you can stay at home, especially if you feel like you are going to get sick, be sure to do so. If you are lucky enough to be able to have a job where you work from home, that’s great! Do it. Do it now. I know this thing will blow over eventually, but until then, I’d get to learn all I could to protect myself from contracting this virus. We are even being careful opening our mail.
