If you want to choose fruits and vegetables with the least pesticides, I have the list for you. It’s by EWG.Org. Once there, you can sign up. I use their what’s clean and dirty guide, but sometimes I mess up and forgetfully buy a regular bag of potatoes or tomatoes. I love grapes, and this is one you also have to be careful about, especially if it’s imported.

We try to buy organic strawberries, spinach, kale, apples, grapes, tomatoes, celery and potatoes. Since the Coronavirus thing is still going on strong, we can’t be too choosy and have to take what the food delivery brings. A guy has to eat something. They haven’t had any organic potatoes.

Some fruits and vegetables you don’t have to worry about. For example, we buy lots of pineapples, a few avocados, onions, occasional asparagus, broccoli, mushrooms and cabbage. These are OK, as they are the cleaner ones. We pin the guide on our fridge as a handy reminder for me, as I’m the food shopper.

Don’t forget that spinach, broccoli, kale and arugula are very nutritious. I add them every morning to my fried potatoes. Add a tiny bit of olive oil and it will make them taste all that more delicious! I add them and stir everything up at the end and let them sit and soften when the potatoes, onions and mushrooms are cooked and done.

‘If you can’t get organic, get regular. Don’t go without your daily fruits and veggies! For example, if you can’t get fresh organic, buy it canned or frozen. Scrub and wash your potatoes and take the skin off. Better yet, cook them in a pressure cooker. Other fruits and vegetables can be soaked in a solution of vinegar and baking soda, scrub, then rinse them off. This is what I do. But, don’t forget there are still potentially harmful bacteria as well as pesticide residue on your market produce…’ ~ your author
